Large Metals Recycling Group seeks several Catalytic Converter Buyers for their operations across the Midwest, West Coast, and Southern States. The Buyers will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, grading, and managing catalytic converter inventory from scrap dealers, auto recyclers, and other suppliers. They will also ensure competitive pricing, regulatory compliance, and profitable material flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase converters from new and existing suppliers
- Identify and grade converters by type and PGM content
- Negotiate pricing using market data (platinum, palladium, rhodium)
- Maintain supplier relationships and develop new accounts
- Track inventory, weights, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies
- Travel to supplier locations as needed
Qualifications
- 3 years experience buying converters, scrap metal, or auto recycling materials
- Strong knowledge of converter grading and pricing
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
- Basic computer and recordkeeping skills
- Existing supplier network preferred
- Knowledge of precious metals markets
- Experience with pricing software or XRF analyzers
