United Electrical Contractors is a growing electrical contractor specializing in residential, commercial, municipal, and standby generator installations throughout Rhode Island.
We're looking for an organized, dependable individual to manage our billing, payroll, and day-to-day accounting functions. This position plays a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately, customer invoices are sent promptly, and the financial side of our projects stays organized.
Construction experience and QuickBooks knowledge are highly preferred.
Position Overview
This position will be responsible for processing payroll, preparing customer invoices, managing accounts receivable and accounts payable, and maintaining accurate financial records.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment where priorities can change throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll and review employee timecards
- Allocate labor hours to the correct jobs for accurate job costing
- Prepare and send customer invoices
- Track outstanding invoices and follow up on past-due accounts
- Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Enter vendor bills and job-related expenses into QuickBooks
- Maintain accurate job cost records
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements
- Assist with monthly financial reporting
- Coordinate with the company's CPA and payroll providers
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
- Assist with general office administration as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Construction accounting experience preferred
- Strong QuickBooks experience required
- Experience processing payroll
- Experience with customer billing and collections
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Professional handling of confidential financial information
