Position Summary
We are seeking a patient-centered, detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver exceptional care across the consultation, pre-operative, and post-operative phases within our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety, coordinating total patient care, and delivering a polished, compassionate experience aligned with the highest clinical standards. The RN collaborates closely with the Clinical team and New Vista Surgical Suites (NVSS) to provide seamless, high-quality surgical care while maintaining accountability for professional nursing practice.
\n- Deliver a friendly, efficient, and exceptional patient experience from initial consultation through post-operative recovery
- Perform comprehensive pre-op and post-op patient assessments, including remote and in-person evaluations
- Verify surgical procedures, consents, allergies, labs, diagnostics, and documentation in the Electronic Medical Note (EMN)
- Communicate clinical findings, abnormal results, and patient concerns to surgeons, anesthesia providers, and care team members
- Administer medications and IV therapy in accordance with established protocols and scope of practice
- Provide patient and family education regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care
- Document all clinical communication, assessments, medications, and care plans accurately in the EMN
- Respond effectively in clinical or surgical emergencies and support NVSS team as needed
- Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, QUAD A, AORN Recommended Practices, and all internal safety protocols
- Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans to optimize safety and surgical results
- Support cross-training, participate in staff meetings, and assist in onboarding and mentoring new team members
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of peri-operative nursing experience preferred, ideally within an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)
- Plastic surgery experience preferred
- Strong clinical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, sterile technique, telemetry, labs, and medications
- Ability to start IVs per protocol and manage peri-operative patient needs independently
- Organized, self-motivated professional with strong prioritization skills and sense of urgency
- Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills with patients, physicians, vendors, and team members
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of care
- Skilled in critical thinking, problem solving, and clinical judgment in high-acuity or stressful environments
- Strong documentation accuracy and proficiency with EMR systems and general office technology
- Commitment to maintaining licensure and ongoing continuing education
- Ability to lift, transport, and assist patients and equipment as needed
- Professional demeanor with a focus on patient dignity, confidentiality, and safety
- Clinical peri-operative environment with exposure to blood and bodily fluids (OSHA Category I position)
- Climate-controlled surgical and office setting with moderate noise levels
- Physical requirements include prolonged standing, walking, listening, manual dexterity, and occasional lifting
