What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Fitter position at Unite Contracting LLC?
As a Structural Fitter, you will fabricate and assemble steel frames, beams, and industrial equipment structures as part of a dedicated fitting crew. Reporting to the fabrication supervisor, you will work closely with welders to interpret blueprints, prepare components for welding, and ensure accurate, high-quality assemblies using structural fabrication tools and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings for structural assemblies.
- Fabricate steel components using plasma cutters, torches, magnetic drills, grinders, and automated fabrication machinery.
- Assemble steel frames, beams, and industrial equipment structures.
- Align, position, and fit components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Prepare assemblies and joints for welding in partnership with welders.
- Operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment to safely handle materials and components.
- Perform self-checks against drawings, fit-up inspections before welding, and dimensional verification.
- Complete formal quality documentation and support quality control activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in structural steel fitting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
