Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Fitter to join our dynamic fabrication and construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and welding structural components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will ensure that all fabricated structures meet strict quality standards, safety regulations, and project specifications. Responsibilities
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble structural components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment such as press brake machines and plasma cutters to shape and assemble metal parts.
- Perform MIG, TIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and welding to join metal components according to AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
- Measure materials precisely using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to ensure proper fitment.
- Read and interpret shop math, schematics, and engineering drawings for accurate fabrication and assembly of structures.
- Operate rigging equipment and forklifts safely for lifting, positioning, and securing heavy components during assembly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols on construction sites or within fabrication shops.
Requirements
- Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of mechanical fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and welding in accordance with AWS standards.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings with confidence.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment.
- Knowledge of rigging procedures, pipe threading, ductwork installation, and sheet metal fabrication is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ASME codes & standards related to structural fabrication is a plus.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations.
- Experience operating forklifts or other heavy machinery safely on job sites or within manufacturing environments.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to interpret technical drawings accurately is essential.
