Responsibilities
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and mechanical blueprints to accurately execute welding tasks.
- Perform welding operations using various techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)
- Measure and mark metal materials using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise cuts and welds.
- Fabricate metal components by cutting, shaping, bending, and assembling sheet metal, ductwork, piping, and other metal materials utilizing plasma cutters, press brake machines, power tools, and machining equipment.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols during all welding and fabrication activities to ensure a safe working environment.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, gas metal arc welding equipment, plasma cutters, and other fabrication machinery efficiently.
- Interpret technical schematics and schematics for assembly or repair projects involving mechanical fabrication or pipe threading.
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and visual checks to verify conformity with specifications.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks while adhering to construction site safety standards and project timelines.
Experience
- Proven construction site experience with a strong background in metal fabrication and welding operations. Must have at least 2 Years Experience
- Hands-on experience with various welding techniques including FCAW, MIG welding, TIG welding, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, shop math, and mechanical blueprint interpretation is essential.
- Experience working with sheet metal fabrication, ductwork assembly, pipe threading, plasma cutting, press brake machines, and machining tools preferred.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards along with AWS standards for welding practices is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in a fabrication shop environment involving mechanical fabrication or manufacturing processes is advantageous.
- Ability to operate rigging equipment such as cranes or forklifts safely; certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to construction sites and metalworking environments.
