This position is responsible for receipting and recording payments in addition to issuing the sale of hunting, fishing, dog, and other licenses.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and direction to assigned staff, including training, monitoring work progress, and assisting with complex situations
- Assist with receiving tax payments and related documentation; address tax collection questions in the absence of the Tax Collector
- Balance daily receipts against deposits, verify accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and allocate funds to appropriate accounts.
- Process financial reports and deposits from various County offices and transfer funds as directed by the Finance Office.
- Collect and record payments related to Hotel Tax and Clean & Green programs
- Manage the issuance, fee collection, and administration of state licenses (e.g., hunting, fishing, dog licenses, small games of chance, bingo applications) and ensure compliance with state requirements.
- Assist with audits, review tax collector returns, and maintain related documentation
- Maintain departmental databases, files, and records in compliance with record retention guidelines
- Prepare forms, reports, correspondence, legal documents, tax statements, public notices, and other related materials
- Maintain and update the Treasurer’s web page and prepare public communications such as news releases
- Assist in developing and administering the department budget and monitoring expenditures
- Communicate with County staff, external agencies, and the public to coordinate activities and resolve issues
- Participate in continuing education, meetings, and training to remain current on policies and procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Vocational or technical training in bookkeeping or accounting
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in bookkeeping or accounting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license required
- Ability to analyze, classify, and interpret financial and administrative data
- Ability to provide guidance and support to staff and the public
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills, including working with percentages, decimals, and financial records
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and adapt to changing situations
- Proficiency in computers and general office equipment
- Primarily office environment
- Light physical activity (lifting up to 5–10 pounds)
- Extended periods at a workstation
- Successful completion of a background investigation
- Drug and alcohol screening required
