Position Title: Domestic Relations Support Caseworker

Department: Domestic Relations Office

Classification Title: DRO Support Caseworker

Starting Rate: $17.84 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Application Status: Open until filled

Position Summary

Union County is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-service-driven Domestic Relations Support Caseworker to join the Domestic Relations Office. This position is responsible for performing clerical, fiscal, and case management duties related to the establishment, enforcement, and maintenance of spousal and child support orders.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting clients, answering inquiries, processing payments, and referring clients to appropriate staff or agencies.
  • Enter and post payments, disburse or deposit funds, and maintain accurate payment records and documentation.
  • Conduct intake interviews, process applications for support, and gather and verify employment, financial, and identification information.
  • Process and manage interstate support orders in accordance with federal regulations.
  • Access and utilize databases such as JNET and eCIS for case location, establishment, and enforcement.
  • Supervise clients on probation or work release for support-related offenses in cooperation with correctional staff.
  • Calculate and propose support amounts based on verified data; prepare financial worksheets and related documentation.
  • Coordinate paternity testing, hearings, and case conferences; may collect and process genetic test samples.
  • Prepare cases for court, testify as needed, and ensure proper case documentation and data entry following court actions.
  • Enforce existing support orders through audits, wage attachments, liens, or contempt actions.
  • Maintain case records, reconcile accounts, and prepare reports, correspondence, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, court personnel, employers, and external agencies to coordinate case activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of administrative, clerical, or customer service experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills; ability to use databases and Microsoft Office software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Work Environment

This position involves primarily sedentary work with occasional light physical effort (lifting up to 10 lbs). Tasks are performed in a standard office environment without exposure to adverse conditions.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must successfully complete a drug and alcohol screening, background investigation, and reference checks prior to employment.
