Responsibilities:
- Operate locating equipment to track and guide directional drilling heads during horizontal directional drilling (HDD) operations
- Communicate drill path, depth, and pitch data to drill operators in real time
- Interpret and monitor bore path using walkover or wireline locating systems
- Identify and mark existing underground utilities to ensure safe drilling operations
- Assist with setup, breakdown, and maintenance of HDD equipment and locating tools
- Maintain accurate logs and records of bore paths and project data
- Collaborate with crew members and project supervisors to meet project timelines and specifications
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a Directional Drill Locator or in HDD operations strongly preferred
- Proficiency with locating systems such as DigiTrak, Subsite, or similar equipment
- Strong understanding of underground utility installation and bore path navigation
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, utility maps, and project drawings
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a crew
- OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain is a plus
