The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans by helping clients navigate the home financing process. This role involves assessing borrower needs, recommending suitable loan products, and guiding applicants from initial inquiry through closing. The position reports directly to MAM and works in close partnership with UMassFive management to review, evaluate, and coordinate mortgage loan applications.
Essential Functions:
· Consult with prospective and existing clients to assess financial situations and home financing needs
· Recommend appropriate mortgage products (e.g., conventional, FHA, VA, jumbo loans)
· Collect and analyze financial documentation, including income, credit history, assets, and liabilities
· Pre-qualify and pre-approve borrowers based on lending guidelines
· Complete and submit accurate loan applications and required disclosures
· Maintain ongoing communication with clients throughout the loan process
· Coordinate with processors, underwriters, appraisers, and title companies to ensure timely closings
· Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company lending regulations
· Develop and maintain referral networks with real estate agents, builders, and other partners
· Monitor market trends, interest rates, and competitor offerings
