Job Summary
Review and process additional compensation forms for accuracy and adherence to established policies and procedures. Enters payroll tax information and payroll deductions into the HR Direct Payroll system. Review and process Online Education (CPE) appointments in collaboration with other campus departments. Provide functional support with processing and maintaining retroactive funding changes and other funding related activities.
Work with HR staff, departmental Personnel Coordinators and employees to promote an environment of 100% customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions
Reporting:
Run audit reports/queries and make appropriate changes to HR Direct.
Deliver on service expectations in both quality and productivity.
Provide day-to-day support to other team members; train and mentor new employees, and willingly support workload and back-up plans as needed.
Assist in auditing Department Budget Tables.
Human Resources Information Systems (HR Direct):
Review, enter, and manage additional compensation payments in HR Direct in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Perform data entry including entering payroll tax information, direct deposits, and payroll deductions in HRIS (HR Direct).
Act as liaison between employees, departments and agencies as needed.
Fill in for/or assist other HR Operations staff in their absence, during peak periods or as their workload deems it necessary.
Keep current in knowledge of systems, technology, policies, practices, and organization structure.
Assist with the international employment records.
Other Functions
Provide support to other sections within Payroll/Human Resources as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of relevant office experience.
Knowledge of HR policies, practices and systems.
Proficient in Word and Excel.
Strong verbal communication skills; ability to speak in front of others in a training environment.
Strong problem-solving and listening skills, as well as the know-how to probe for more information and/or to recognize when an issue needs to be escalated.
Ability to remain organized, prioritize work and take ownership for work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks while providing positive and professional experience to our customer(s).
Adept at working with diverse community and with people at all levels of the organization.
Able to deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with PeopleSoft.
Additional Details
Performs tasks in accordance with specified procedures and timelines. Exercises independent judgment in performance of daily tasks.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a standard office or indoor university environment and involves minimal physical exertion.
Work Schedule and Work Arrangement
M-F, 8:30AM - 5:00PM
This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee's work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position is non-unit, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees Non-Unit (Professional/or Classified) Employee Personnel Policy.
