This program is designed to prepare residents to meet the educational requirements for certification by the American BoardStudents must register for a full program each semester during their residency, including the clinical and didactic courses required for the specialty certificate, oral sciences courses, research, and teaching.
Participate in collegiate faculty meetings as well as departmental staff meetings, national/international meetings, continuing education, committees, and other divisional meetings and departmental conferences on a regular basis as assigned. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
of Orthodontics and state licensing bodies for the specialty practice of orthodontics. The program includes participation in
formal lectures, seminars, and laboratory courses; pursuit of orthodontically oriented research; teacher-assisting in
undergraduate teaching of orthodontics; and treatment of patients in the orthodontic clinic. Upon completion of the course,
students are awarded a certificate of proficiency by the College of Dentistry. The program is accredited by the Commission on
Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.
A minimum of 30 months of continuous attendance is required of the candidates for the specialty certificate and M.S. degree.
