Position overview

Position title: Palliative Care Physician
Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $238,800 – $261,900. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Palliative Care at the UC San Diego School of Medicine is committed to academic and clinical excellence within our faculty, staff, student body, and trainees. The Palliative Care at UC San Diego Health is currently seeking compassionate and skilled Palliative Care Physicians experienced in treating individuals with serious, advanced, and life-limiting illnesses to join our inter-professional team.

The Palliative Care Program at UC San Diego Health is a well-established, large, inter-professional team with both inpatient and clinic-based teams.

This position involves a balance of inpatient and outpatient clinical care, focusing on symptom management, advanced care planning, and improving the overall quality of life for patients and their families. The selected candidates will also teach and mentor medical students, residents, and clinical fellows

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD, DO, or equivalent.

Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Hospice medicine and/or Palliative Medicine

Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidate must have completed fellowship training in hospice/palliative medicine.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with at least 2 years of experience in clinical care and collaboration across disciplines are preferred.
