POSTDOCTORAL POSITION OVERVIEW
We seek an enthusiastic and outstanding postdoctoral researcher to join the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at University of California San Diego. The objective of the planned postdoctoral research is to join a multidisciplinary team with a focus on peripheral nerve and skeletal muscle function, injury, and disease. The main project is newly funded and will encompass biomechanics; basic neuromuscular biology; tissue-level analyses; tissue culture and small animal models of peripheral nerve injury and treatment. Candidates will be encouraged to develop independent technical, writing, and strategic skills during their post-doc with a goal of becoming an independent scientist in academia or in industry. Mentorship will be consistent with these long-term goals.
Basic Qualifications
· Must currently be enrolled in a PhD program or have completed a PhD program.
· Must have experience in neuromuscular physiology and/or biology.
· Experience in cell or tissue biomechanics is a positive.
· Collaborative individual with a strong interest in our translational research program.
· Interest in working at the interfaces of multiple academic disciplines.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Experience with pre-clinical surgical models is preferred, but not required.
