Job Description
Responsible for managing the accounting activities for UAB Medicine Enterprise (UABME), including accounts payable and fixed assets. Prepares standard and ad hoc reports as requested, and directs the annual budget process and any other special projects as assigned. Responsible for directing accounting staff efforts for the annual audits for UABME and Cooper Green. This role will also manage accounting staff that support the accounting activities for the UAHSF and Cooper Green.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Responsible for UABME corporate accounting-related processes, accounts payable, general ledger, monthly financial statement and annual budget preparation.
2. Responsible for directing accounting staff in the preparation of UABME and Cooper Green annual audit.
3. Responsible for management of the completion and distribution of UABME and Cooper Green monthly financial results.
4. Responsible for management and oversight of the Accounts Payable function. UABME AP provides AP services to UAHSF, Cooper Green, UAB St. Vincent’s and UAB Health System.
5. Responsible for management and maintenance of fixed asset management reporting and reconciliations for UABME, HSF, and Cooper Green. Also includes budgeting and tracking of capital expenditures in Axiom.
6. Responsible for FASB lease accounting standards, monitoring real estate/equipment leases, Page 2 of 3 maintaining lease software and producing general ledger entries.
7. Design and utilize forecast models for annual budgets and interim financial reviews.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Licenses / Certifications / Registrations
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Approximately four (4) to ten (10) direct reports. Approximately eleven (11) or more indirect reports.
Budget Responsibilities
Management of funds with signatory and/or budget authority.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Experience with the selection, implementation, migration, and/or testing of ERP modules or platforms
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work independently
