What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Director position at Surgical Practice - Birmingham, AL?
Note: This position is for one of Kassouf's clients, a surgical practice.
The Accounting Director will serve as the chief financial business partner of the executive team, and thought partner to the CEO. They will drive the financial vision, direction, guidance, and compliance to support successful operations. The Accounting Director will provide the leadership necessary to ensure the development of relevant business information; timely financial plans and reports to drive accountability and decision making, appropriate physician productivity and reimbursement systems; and manage the overall financial health of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field AND five (5) years' experience in accounting.
- Must show an advanced ability to create and communicate complex financial metric, including financial statements, ROI project analysis, and profit analysis.
- Must display an advanced knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
- Must display an advanced ability in short-term or long -term budgeting.
- Must display advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and written with all team members including physicians or the Board of Directors, and present difficult or sensitive topics in an effective and efficient manner.
- Must display a basic understanding of electronic payroll functions.
- Ensure timely filing of 401k and profit-sharing plan data files and requirements.
- Must display an advanced understanding of QuickBooks Online.
- Must display an advanced understanding of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or other presentation programs.
- Must display an ability to generate and encourage creative ideas and innovative thinking to generate imaginative solutions to issues or problems.
- Must show excellent ability to delegate and prioritize tasks.
- Must show the ability to maintain confidentiality including strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and practice policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant certification preferred.
- Five (5) years' experience in healthcare accounting, or with a large physician practice preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will directly supervise the following, and have leadership guidance on any positions that report to or through the following:
- Will be responsible for supervision of accounts payable coordinator.
- Will be responsible for oversight of payroll functions.
