Director of Accounting

Accountants One has been hired by a highly successful real estate private equity investment firm to find a Director of Accounting to join their team. The company, based in Birmingham, has been in business for 16 years.

Their primary focus is on retail, mixed-use & vertical self storage, providing best-in-class underwriting, market analysis & void analysis, acquisition, development, repositioning, construction management, leasing, property management, & financial reporting, as well as complex debt and equity restructuring services. The role is open due to organizational growth!

This position will oversee financial & accounting operations, real estate investments & capital raising activities, including accounting functions, financial reporting, tax compliance, & budget management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or CFA is a plus
• Extensive experience (3-5 years) in real estate finance, private equity, or a similar industry
• Solid understanding of real accounting principles, financial analysis, & reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS)
• Strong knowledge of real estate investment structures, including partnerships, joint ventures, & fund structures
• Experience with real estate financial modeling, valuations, & performance metrics
• Proficient in financial management software & systems (Yardi, MRI, Excel)
• Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving, & decision-making skills
• Strong attention to detail & ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Effective communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate & influence stakeholders at all levels
• Leadership abilities with a track record of managing & developing high-performance finance teams
