Job Description
To provide dietary order assistance as required by the room service call center. To respond to meal requests from patients and patient family members, directing the patient towards appropriate food items to meet nutritional goals, explaining the room service process, and providing brief education about diet restrictions. To review and edit patients’ menu selections according to nutrition standards so patients receive food and/or supplements that are compliant with diet orders and discern when to consult with clinical nutrition or food service preparation staff. To ensure patient satisfaction with meal selection.
Reviews and discusses options in food selections with patients, families and visitors through the room service all center to ensure food services needs are met in compliance with the patient.
Meets productivity standards consistently and incorporates UAB Hospital Core Values in area of services to be measured daily while providing helpful, caring and friendly service with food selections and effectively interacting and responding to patients, guests, and co-workers.
Responds to the unique food service needs of patients, knowing when to direct needs to clinical nutrition or food service production staff.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and one (1) year of related experience required. Certified as completed the Food Handler Training Course by the Jefferson County Department of Health within twenty-one (21) days from date of employment required.
