Job Title: Special Police Officer – Housing Patrol
Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour

Position Overview
We are seeking experienced and professional Special Police Officers to conduct dedicated housing patrol operations within residential communities in the Northwest and Northeast sectors of Washington, DC. This assignment requires a proactive, community-oriented security professional who is comfortable working independently in both vehicle and foot patrol capacities.
This role is highly visible and community-facing. Officers must demonstrate strong judgment, professionalism, and the ability to de-escalate tense situations while maintaining a firm and respectful presence.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct marked vehicle patrols of assigned communities
• Perform extensive foot patrols throughout residential grounds and common areas
• Enforce property rules and issue trespass notices when necessary
• Engage positively with residents, property management, and visitors
• Identify and respond to suspicious activity or safety concerns
• Complete detailed and accurate incident reports
• Work collaboratively with local law enforcement when required
• Ensure overall safety, order, and quality of life within assigned communities
Qualifications (Preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years of prior experience in law enforcement, corrections, and/or military service
• Active DC Special Police Officer (SPO) commission
• Strong de-escalation and conflict resolution skills
• Exceptional interpersonal and community engagement skills
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Ability to work independently with sound decision-making
Requirements
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check
• Clean driving record (vehicle patrol required)
• Ability to walk for extended periods during foot patrols
• Physically capable of performing patrol duties in various weather conditions
• Strong report writing and communication skills
