Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials (TRRC) is accepting applications for a part-time Food Pantry Assistant based in our Mt. Sterling office, serving Brown County, Illinois.
TRRC is a nonprofit organization serving Adams, Brown, Pike, and Schuyler Counties as the designated Community Action Agency. Our mission is to grow stronger and more positive communities through relationships. As a Food Pantry Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring individuals and families in Brown County have access to nutritious food in a welcoming and respectful environment. Working as part of the Community Action team, you will assist with food distribution, inventory management, receiving deliveries, maintaining food safety standards, and providing exceptional customer service to pantry clients and community partners.
Major Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation of the food pantry and client food distributions.
- Prepare food baskets and distribute food to eligible households.
- Receive, unload, inspect, and organize food deliveries and donations.
- Monitor and record cooler and freezer temperatures to ensure compliance with food safety requirements.
- Stock shelves, rotate inventory, and maintain clean, organized pantry and storage areas.
- Weigh and record food donations and maintain required documentation.
- Assist with inventory management and ensure compliance with Central Illinois Foodbank and applicable public health requirements.
- Provide courteous, respectful, and confidential customer service to pantry clients.
- Collaborate with Community Action staff to ensure efficient pantry operations.
- Travel locally as needed for food pickups, deliveries, or other program-related activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
