Freelance Production Manager – Children's TV Demo

This role involves overseeing the end-to-end production of a 2–3 minute proof-of-concept for a live-action children’s TV series featuring puppetry and a human lead. The project aims to create a polished sizzle reel that effectively communicates the show’s tone, educational value, and production style for pitching to networks, partners, and investors. The position requires hands-on management of all logistical aspects, from pre-production planning through to post-production delivery, ensuring the project is completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in short-form content, a strong understanding of children’s media, and a collaborative approach to working with creative teams.

Deliverables

• Coordinate and manage all phases of production, including pre-production, shoot day, and post-production
• Hire and contract crew members, ensuring all roles are filled with qualified professionals
• Book and secure a suitable studio location for a one-day shoot
• Develop and maintain detailed production schedules and call sheets
• Oversee the shoot day, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to the production plan
• Manage the project budget, tracking expenses and ensuring cost efficiency
• Facilitate communication between creative, technical, and production teams
• Ensure the final deliverable is a professionally edited, broadcast-quality demo suitable for pitching
  
  

Requirements

• Proven experience as a line producer or production manager on short-form video or TV projects
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and production logistics for small-scale shoots
• Strong network of local crew and vendor contacts
• Experience with children’s content and/or puppetry is highly desirable
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with creative teams and talent
• Familiarity with studio production environments and post-production workflows
• Availability for pre-production planning, a one-day studio shoot, and post-production oversight
