The assistant coach will work closely with players to enhance their skills, promote teamwork, and foster a positive and competitive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practice sessions and team meetings.
- Provide individual and group instruction to student-athletes on tennis techniques, strategies, and sportsmanship.
- Help organize and supervise team competitions, including matches and tournaments.
- Monitor student-athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes for the tennis program.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, athletic department rules, and state regulations.
- Maintain a positive and supportive team atmosphere, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship among players.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
- Assist with the organization of fundraising and community outreach activities to support the tennis program.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to improve knowledge and skills related to tennis coaching.
Requirements
- Previous experience playing or coaching tennis at the high school level or higher.
- Strong understanding of tennis rules, techniques, and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach and other coaching staff.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the tennis season.
- A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
