Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
- Provide instructional support to students with disabilities, utilizing specialized strategies and resources to facilitate learning.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional methods and materials as necessary to meet academic and behavioral goals.
- Assist in the execution of behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) to address specific challenges faced by students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, IEP goals, and relevant documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and understanding among all students.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Requires two years of college, an AA degree, or successfully completed the ParaPro Assessment (Praxis Exam).
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of special education best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Ability to implement effective instructional strategies tailored to individual student needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- A passion for advocating for students with special needs and a commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon board approval, and successful completion of a federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
