Canyon Ridge High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our cheerleading program as an Assistant Cheer Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will support the Head Cheer Coach in developing the skills, teamwork, and spirit of our cheerleading squad. This seasonal position offers a unique opportunity to inspire and mentor student-athletes while fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Cheer Coach in planning and executing practice sessions, including warm-ups, skill development, and choreography.
- Support the organization and execution of cheerleading events, including games, competitions, and community appearances.
- Help maintain a safe and positive practice environment, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to cheerleaders to enhance skills and performance.
- Assist in the recruitment of new team members and promote team spirit and unity.
- Collaborate with parents, school administration, and other staff to ensure the success of the cheer program.
- Attend all scheduled practices, games, and events, and be available for additional meetings as needed.
- Help manage team communications, including schedules, announcements, and updates.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; previous cheerleading experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques, routines, and safety practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse groups.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the cheer season.
- A passion for cheerleading and a commitment to promoting a positive athletic experience for all participants.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon Board approval and successful completion of a federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
