Summary: We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and hands-on Controller to lead and evolve our Accounting Team. This critical role requires someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, takes full ownership of the General Ledger and account reconciliations, and has a strong passion for process improvement and team development.
As Controller, you will be responsible for facilitating, generating, and managing all accounting processes and procedures. You’ll work closely with the Staff Accountant and VP of Finance—who have previously overseen these responsibilities and will remain available to support a smooth transition.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Executes General Ledger accounting flawlessly.
2. Institutes and routinely maintains a disciplined Account Reconciliation process.
3. Manages and supervises the Accounting Team. Responsible for day-to-day activities.
4. Monitors expenses monthly and confers with appropriate personnel regarding discrepancies or variances.
5. Calculates and pays monthly/quarterly Sales and Use Tax.
6. Prepares and enters monthly journal entries.
7. Maintains prepaid and accrued expense schedules.
8. Prepares the monthly commission and royalty reports including review of contractual obligations.
9. Performs month-end close. Prepares all financial reports, utilizing our Navision accounting program to consolidate companies, as required to comply with internal and external reporting requirements.
10. Over sees and participates in various audits.
11. Maintains records for fixed assets and various General Ledger accounts.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
1. Plans, schedules, and distributes incoming work to appropriate individuals.
2. Develops and maintains effective organization through the selection, training, motivation, and review of direct staff.
3. Provides guidance and direction to accounting staff to assist them in their professional development.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred; Associate degree accepted.
- Previous experience as an Accounting Supervisor or Manager, with five or more years preferred.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- 2 years of public accounting strongly desired.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Proficiency with accounting software, Navision preferred.
- Firm grasp of and exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost accounting utilizing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Demonstrated track record of building, executing, and training on SOPs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit approximately 75% of the time, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to balance, stoop, and bend. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is located in an office environment but will be regularly exposed to work near and on the production floor. The employee may occasionally be required to work in our manufacturing environment.
The noise level in the work environment may occasionally be loud.
