Tusco is looking for an experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to join our growing team.
📍 This position can be based out of either of our Alabama offices in:
- Cottondale (Tuscaloosa area)
- Bessemer (Birmingham area)
This is more than a traditional Project Manager role.
As a Senior Project Manager at Tusco, you'll take ownership of complex construction projects while also serving as a mentor, resource, and leader for Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers across the team.
You'll manage projects from preconstruction through closeout, help solve high-level project challenges, strengthen relationships with clients and partners, and work alongside our Director of Project Management to continuously improve how our team operates.
And the projects you lead have a purpose. Tusco's perimeter security solutions help protect people, critical infrastructure, government and military facilities, data centers, and other high-security environments across the country.
What you'll do:
- Lead assigned construction projects from preconstruction through execution and closeout
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and take ownership of the overall customer experience
- Manage project budgets, schedules, procurement, quality, risk, change management, forecasting, and closeout
- Lead interdepartmental teams to deliver projects safely, accurately, on time, and within budget
- Mentor and support Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, helping develop their project management capabilities and knowledge of Tusco best practices
- Provide guidance on submittals, RFIs, procurement, deliveries, documentation, safety, quality control, budgeting, forecasting, change management, negotiations, dispute resolution, and closeout
- Review project financials, cost projections, and billing projections to ensure accurate and thorough reporting
- Support subcontractor procurement, contract scope development, and subcontractor management
- Help identify and resolve high-level project risks, manpower constraints, and execution challenges
- Partner with leadership to identify and implement improvements to Project Management processes and procedures
- Collaborate across Project Management, Operations, Compliance, Payroll, and other departments to support successful project execution
- Help ensure compliance with contractual requirements and applicable federal, state, local, industry, and company standards
What we're looking for:
- 5-10 years of related construction industry experience
- Proven experience managing construction projects through the full project lifecycle
- Strong knowledge of project financials, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, risk, and change management
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to mentor and develop other project management professionals
- Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build lasting customer, vendor, and subcontractor relationships
- Excellent communication, organization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to navigate complex project challenges and make sound decisions
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam
- A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- PMP, PSP, or comparable project management certifications are also preferred.
