Electronic Security Estimator

Tusco is looking for an experienced Electronic Security Estimator to join our Electronic Security team in Madison, AL.

As an Electronic Security Estimator, you’ll play an important role in turning project requirements, drawings, and specifications into accurate, competitive estimates. You’ll work closely with Sales, Project Management, Operations, Engineering, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure every estimate reflects not only the cost of the project, but what it will actually take to successfully execute it in the field.

What you’ll do:

• Prepare accurate and detailed estimates and proposals for electronic security and low-voltage projects of varying size and complexity
• Review RFPs, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, equipment schedules, and other project documents
• Perform detailed material, equipment, and labor takeoffs
• Estimate systems including access control, video surveillance/CCTV, intrusion detection, intercom and communication systems, structured cabling, electronic perimeter security, and other low-voltage systems
• Interpret construction, security, electrical, and low-voltage drawings and technical documents
• Obtain and evaluate pricing from manufacturers, distributors, vendors, and subcontractors
• Develop labor estimates based on project scope, system complexity, installation requirements, and field conditions
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, conflicts, and potential cost risks before estimates are finalized
• Research products, equipment, and system requirements when project documents are incomplete or unclear
• Participate in site walks, pre-bid meetings, and project walkthroughs as needed
• Collaborate with Sales and Project Management to clarify scope and ensure estimates accurately reflect customer requirements
• Partner with field and installation teams to ensure proposed systems, materials, labor, and installation methods are practical and achievable
• Prepare professional proposals, bid summaries, and supporting documentation
• Manage multiple estimates and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Support the transition of awarded projects from estimating to project execution

What we’re looking for:

• 2 years of experience estimating electronic security or low-voltage systems
• Experience estimating access control, video surveillance/CCTV, intrusion detection, structured cabling, or related electronic security systems
• Strong understanding of materials, labor, equipment, and installation requirements for electronic security and low-voltage projects
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, security drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and technical scopes
• Experience performing material and equipment takeoffs and developing labor estimates
• Experience obtaining and evaluating vendor, manufacturer, distributor, and subcontractor pricing
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams

Experience with government, military, industrial, or other high-security projects is a plus, as is familiarity with platforms such as Avigilon, DMP, Honeywell, Genetec, Axis, Bosch, or Verkada.
