Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Lead personalized design appointments with homebuyers, guiding them through interior and exterior finish selections while creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience.
- Assist homeowners in making selections that complement their lifestyle, budget, architectural style, and the overall aesthetic of the community.
- Specify interior and exterior finishes for inventory and spec homes.
- Prepare look books and finish packages for inventory homes.
- Prepare, maintain, and upload complete construction documentation for each home.
- Enter and manage homeowner selections within the company's project management software, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support architects with non-structural drafting revisions, including finish schedules, annotations, dimensions, and plan updates using AutoCAD.
- Produce updated plan sets as required throughout the design and construction process.
- Participate in framing walkthroughs, site visits, and jobsite inspections to verify design details and support construction teams.
- Collaborate closely with the Design Team, field personnel, vendors, and construction teams to ensure design intent is communicated and executed accurately.
- Assist fellow Design Coordinators as needed to maintain a consistent homeowner experience across all communities.
- Organize and maintain the Design Center, finish samples, and material library.
- Stay current on residential design trends, building materials, and industry products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture required.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of residential interior design or homebuilding experience preferred.
- Knowledge of residential construction, finish materials, and homebuilding processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn company software.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with homeowners, vendors, and internal teams.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to active job sites throughout the Knoxville area and occasionally to Chattanooga.
- Ability to walk active construction sites, climb stairs, and stand, bend, reach, and lift to 25 pounds.
- Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend client meetings, only when necessary.
