Turner Companies is seeking an Intern Architect to join our Design Team in a permanent, full-time position. This role is ideal for an emerging architectural professional pursuing licensure who is looking to build a long-term career in residential design. The Intern Architect is responsible for coordinating plan revisions, implementing redlines, maintaining the company's library of home plans, and supporting the development of new home designs.
As part of a fully integrated design team within a home building company, this position provides hands-on experience throughout the residential construction process. The Intern Architect will work closely with the architect, build team, and design team while gaining practical experience that may qualify toward Architectural Experience Program (AXP) requirements.

SUPERVISOR
Design Director / Architect
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement redlines and revisions to existing single-family home plans based on: Building code updates, Engineering coordination, Construction feedback, Value engineering initiatives and product changes
- Maintain and organize the company's master library of home plans, construction details, and design options to ensure accuracy, consistency, and version control.
- Update plans for: Multiple elevations, structural options and plan variations, Jurisdictional requirements, and site-specific conditions
- Assist in the development of new home plans, including: Preliminary floor plan layouts, Plan standardization, Construction and permitting documentation
- Support the Construction Team by responding to design-related questions and incorporating field-driven revisions.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and internal departments to maintain accurate construction documents.
- Participate in field visits and jobsite observations to better understand construction methods and improve plan quality.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture required.
- Zero to three (0-3) years of professional experience; internships and residential design experience are encouraged.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required; working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn company software.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete repetitive revisions with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of single-family residential construction, building codes, and permitting processes.
- Experience with production or semi-custom residential home plans is preferred.
- Understanding of plan standardization, structural options, elevations, and finish variations is preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across design and construction teams.
- Desire to pursue architectural licensure and continue professional development.
