Responsibilities
- Function as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor
- Apply advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline
- Contribute to the development of innovative engineering solutions
- Use digital tools and design software (CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) with standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
- Provide consultation, training, and oversight to other engineering technicians to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project standards
- Establish and communicate appropriate design and graphic standards
- Review project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content
- Promote quality and consistency across projects, groups, and sections
- Review design inputs to ensure alignment and consistency
- Ensure deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards
- May contribute to continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes
- May participate in and lead process improvement and change management activities
- Manage drawing control and maintain historical project records
- Apply engineering principles and established design practices to complex designs
- Exercise sound judgment in interpreting inputs and making deliverable-related decisions
- Handle complex technical assignments and provide guidance to other professionals
- Perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation
- May review deliverables produced by others for quality and accuracy
- May coordinate presentations, production design, and use of electronic design tools
- May monitor production to ensure consistency, budget, and schedule
- May program control systems or support plant start-up activities within area of expertise
- Coordinate with other design groups to exchange information for design development
- May support field activities as required
- Communicate project design requirements, progress, and schedules
- Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers; communicate these to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate concerns
- Assist discipline or department management in developing and communicating appropriate design standards and process improvement activities
- Identify and support training and development needs for supervised personnel
- Recognized for expertise in one or more areas; may be assigned special assignments depending on technical expertise, including solving particular design problems or participating in focused project task teams
- Make presentations and conduct training classes within a specialized area of expertise
- Education:
- Associate's degree in Drafting or Engineering Design related technology (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Design related technology (preferred)
- Experience:
- Minimum 11 years of related work experience
