Payroll Specialist
Location: Reston, VA
Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support full-cycle payroll processing for a multi-state employee population. This individual will be responsible for ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on payroll processing experience, strong payroll tax knowledge, and experience working with ADP, UKG, or a comparable payroll system.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support full-cycle payroll processing from data entry through final payroll review.
- Process employee hours, earnings, deductions, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments.
- Handle new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and employee payroll updates.
- Review and audit payroll prior to processing to identify and correct discrepancies.
- Support multi-state payroll and ensure compliance with applicable state and local requirements.
- Review payroll taxes, withholdings, deductions, and related payroll calculations for accuracy.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, tax issues, and employee inquiries.
- Process regular and off-cycle payrolls as needed.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, quarter-end, and year-end activities.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of full-cycle payroll experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with ADP and/or UKG strongly preferred.
- Experience processing payroll across multiple states.
- Solid understanding of federal, state, and local payroll taxes.
- Experience with payroll reconciliations and auditing payroll for accuracy.
- Strong Excel skills and general payroll systems knowledge.
