Bookkeeper – Rockville, MD (Hybrid)
Full-time | 35-hour work week | Flexible start time (7:30–8:30am)
About the Opportunity
A well-established organization in the Rockville area is seeking a Bookkeeper to join its collaborative accounting team. This position offers the opportunity to work within a stable, mission-driven environment that prioritizes work-life balance, professional growth, and long-term stability.
This role will begin fully onsite during training, transitioning to a hybrid schedule (2 days remote per week) once ramped up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate and timely entry of all financial transactions
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including coding, posting, and reconciling invoices and payments
- Prepare bank, credit card, and account reconciliations on a regular basis
- Assist with payroll processing and maintaining related records
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as needed
- Support budgeting processes and monitor spending versus budget
- Coordinate with external accountants for tax filings, audits, or year-end activities
- Organize and maintain digital and physical financial records
- Manage vendor relationships, including setting up new vendors and addressing payment inquiries
- Help develop and improve processes to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of operational accounting experience (journal entries, AP, AR, reconciliations).
- Working knowledge of general ledger systems; Great Plains experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
