AP Manager – Government Contracting
A growing government contracting organization is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to take ownership of and transform its AP function. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in building structure, driving process improvements, and leading teams within a GovCon environment.
Position Overview
This role will oversee the full accounts payable function, with a strong focus on improving efficiency, implementing automation, and ensuring compliance within a government contracting framework. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can step into a function that needs refinement and bring structure, accountability, and modernization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end accounts payable operations including invoice processing, approvals, and payment execution
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and scalability
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and DCAA requirements
- Establish and track KPIs to measure team performance and workflow effectiveness
- Strengthen internal controls and support audit readiness
- Oversee vendor onboarding, maintenance, and compliance documentation
- Support month-end close including accruals and reconciliations
- Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership teams
- Manage and develop a team of AP professionals
Qualifications
- 8–12 years of accounting or accounts payable experience
- Prior experience within a government contracting environment is required
- Strong understanding of FAR, DFARS, and DCAA compliance
- Proven leadership experience managing teams
- Experience driving process improvement, automation, and system enhancements
- ERP experience required; Oracle Fusion is a strong plus
- Strong Excel skills and overall systems proficiency
- Excellent communication skills and ability to operate in a visible, cross-functional role

Salary : $105,000 - $120,000
