Position Summary: The Director of Retention and Attendance Supports leads and is accountable for the implementation and performance of district initiatives designed to improve student attendance, engagement, and retention outcomes. This role leads the coordination and execution of attendance and retention systems and ensures consistent, effective implementation
across Tulsa Public Schools. Working in partnership with internal departments and school leaders, this position supports
district efforts related to enrollment stability, family engagement, and student experience. The Director provides recommendations, performance data, and key insights to leadership to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement. This role is responsible for driving measurable outcomes in attendance and retention, while supporting alignment with related recruitment and family engagement efforts through cross-functional coordination and data-informed practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in education, student services, program management, communications, or a related field
- Experience leading or managing initiatives related to student engagement, attendance, retention, or recruitment preferred
- Experience working in a large, urban school district preferred
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license required
- Valid Oklahoma teaching or administrative certificate preferred
- Strong understanding of student attendance, engagement, retention, and enrollment-related practices
- Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with school-based staff
- Ability to influence and support stakeholders without direct authority
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices for improving student attendance and engagement
- Proficiency with data systems and reporting tools used in K–12 settings
- Ability to lead cross-functional projects and coordinate diverse teams
