Job Description
The Credentialing Specialist II for the SOM Department of Neurology and the Department of Neurosurgery is responsible for a variety of duties, included but not limited to medical credentialing, working with faculty affairs in processing, academically ranking and appointment of faculty, and processing all international visas within the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery. The candidate initiates through completion all aspects of faculty credentialing, clinic and hospital privileges and malpractice insurance for full time clinical faculty, part-time clinical faculty and community volunteers as well as TUMG/Payor enrollment, malpractice (PCF) enrollment, medical licensure, board certification and various forms of clinical privileging. The candidate will ensure all requirements are met to reappoint all volunteer faculty in different locations that educate residents and students. The Credentialing Specialist II is the point person for the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery. The candidate manages the department Personnel and Honors Committee and works closely with the School of Medicine Personnel and Honors Committee for academic rank assignment processes. The Credentialing Specialist II will manage these responsibilities for an estimated 50 clinical faculty members across two departments. The Credentialing Specialist II is responsible for the Department of Neurology and the Department of Neurosurgery. We currently credential faculty at ten hospital/facility sites and 23 telestroke sites in different locations throughout multiple states.
