JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Prepares a large volume and variety of food items for meal service. The Cook performs clean-up duties to maintain sanitary conditions in the workplace and follows standard practices and procedures and complies with regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepare food using established production procedures and systems.Determine the amount and type of food and supplies required using production systems.Ensures availability of supplies in adequate time for preparation.Check in food orders and all other deliveries, lifting up to 50 pounds.Set steam table; serve or ensure proper serving of food for tray line or dining room. Including set up and assembly of tray line.Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved.Prepare specific food items based on menu including baked goods such as muffins and dessert items.Keep work and food preparation areas clean at all times.Clean and maintain equipment.Ability to follow standardized recipes, production sheets and menus in accurately preparing food, required.Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.All other duties assigned.**Position may include weekends and/or evening duties as needed or required at time REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE: One (1) to two (2) years of experience in a large-scale food service production preferred/institutional environment preferredHigh School diploma or GED equivalentMust maintain any food service/ sanitation training certifications.Food Service Sanitation Certificate (ServSafe) required OR must obtain within first 6 months of employmentREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of health, safety and sanitary practices involved in cooking.Knowledge of large-scale food production required.Knowledge of nutrition and modified diets required.Must be able to follow written and oral instruction.Personal belief in recovery and the recovery process.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, clients, and the public.High energy, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.Ability to engage clients flexibly based on their individual needs.Respect for and maintenance of professional boundaries with all individuals.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.Proficiency in reading, understanding, and speaking English.Background: This position requires successful background and drug test completion Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.Prolonged periods of standing and bending.SALARY AND BENEFITS:The compensation for this position will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
