What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal (Bankruptcy Practice Area) position at Tucson Law Center?
Matthew Foley PLC, a busy consumer bankruptcy law firm in Tucson, is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our team. We handle a high volume of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, and we're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced office and takes real pride in getting the details right.
No prior bankruptcy experience required — we provide full training on our systems and procedures. What matters most is how you work.
What You'll Do
- Prepare bankruptcy petitions, statements, and schedules by reviewing and extracting client financial information from tax returns, bank statements, and pay stubs
- Organize and verify client documentation for accuracy and completeness before it goes to the attorney for review
- Manage incoming client calls and walk-ins while juggling active casework — this is a high-volume office and multitasking is a daily requirement
- Communicate with clients to follow up on missing or incomplete documents
- Work within our case management systems (training provided)
What We're Looking For
- Neat and methodical — your work product is organized and easy for others to follow
- Detail-oriented — you catch inconsistencies before they become problems
- Good common sense — you can look at a set of numbers or documents and tell when something doesn't add up, even without being told exactly what to look for
- Able to multitask — comfortable handling phone calls, walk-in clients, and deadline-driven paperwork all in the same day
- Genuinely interested in learning bankruptcy law — this is a specialized practice area, and we want someone who wants to grow into it
