Tucoemas Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and reliability of the Credit Union’s financial records and reporting. Working closely with the Controller and CFO, this position supports financial reporting, reconciliation processes, regulatory reporting, and audit preparation while collaborating with teams across the organization to streamline financial and operational workflows impacting the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and maintain complex balance sheet reconciliations, proactively identifying, researching, and resolving discrepancies to ensure accounts are fully supported and reconciling items are cleared timely.
- Play a key role in the monthly and year-end financial close process, including preparing financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analyses while ensuring deadlines are met.
- Analyze financial activity and account balances to identify trends, irregularities, or operational issues that could impact financial reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with operations, branch staff, and other departments to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies, operational issues, and system-related transactions impacting the general ledger.
- Assist in the preparation and support of regulatory reporting requirements, including the NCUA Call Report, ensuring financial data aligns with internal records and supporting documentation.
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory examinations by preparing schedules, responding to requests for information, and ensuring accounting documentation is complete and well organized.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, reconciliation procedures, and internal controls, and assist in implementing improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
- CPA or progress toward CPA is desired but not required
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Financial institution or credit union experience
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills preferred
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships while performing required duties.
- Communicate effectively and tactfully in both oral and written form.
- Analyze data and prepare a variety of clear and concise reports.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Salary : $90,000 - $105,000
