Join Our Team as an Inclusion Assistant!

THPRD’s Inclusion Services support individuals of all abilities in participating in recreation programs throughout the district.

Inclusion Assistants play a key role in supporting individuals with physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities of all ages who participate in THPRD programs. This work focuses on helping participants engage successfully and safely in recreation activities while promoting inclusion and participation.

Role Overview

As an Inclusion Assistant you will be responsible for a variety of support tasks including:

  • Adapt activities to meet participant needs
  • Follow inclusion success plans
  • Ensure a safe environment
  • Support participant engagement and participation
  • Assist with additional support tasks as needed

Our camps, classes, and programs are hosted weekly at various THPRD park sites across the district. Be prepared to work outdoors, on a variety of surfaces, and in varying environmental conditions.

Typical Hours

Part-time variable schedule: typically 2–20 hours per week based on program needs.

Shifts may occur any day of the week between 7:30am–9:00pm. Scheduling varies based on program needs. Part-time staff may work up to 1,560 hours per year.

Pay

$22.21 per hour

The full hourly range for this job classification is $22.21 to $25.04 per hour. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.

Qualifications And Experience

We welcome applicants with any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Preferences Include

  • Experience providing Inclusion support in a recreational environment
  • Direct experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Familiarity with working with individuals displaying challenging behaviors
  • Experience in recreation areas such as sports, nature programming, or general summer camps is desirable for site-specific placement

Other Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age on start date
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required
  • First Aid & CPR certification required within 30 days of hire

What We Offer You

PART-TIME VARIABLE (PT): Part-time variable (PT) employees work less than 29 hours per week on average annually. However, they have the option of working additional hours during periods like summer or winter months. PT are eligible to receive benefits such as Paid Time Off (PTO), Holiday Pay, Compassionate Leave, and Inclement Weather Pay (if required to work).

SEASONAL: Seasonal employment is temporary and allows employees to work only during certain times of the year, up to 40 hours per week for a maximum duration of six (6) consecutive months. Seasonal employees are eligible to receive benefits such as Holiday Pay, Compassionate Leave, and Inclement Weather Pay (if required to work). Effective February 15, 2026, seasonal employees will also be eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (PTO)!

Leave

  • Paid Time Off - Paid leave type for part-time variable employees. Paid Time Off (PTO), will accrue at a rate of one (1) hour earned for every 30 hours worked. This is in addition to Sick leave and may be scheduled by employees for any reason! Effective February 15, 2026 the accrual rate for PTO will increase to one (1) hour earned for every 23 hours worked and will include seasonal employees!
  • The ability to accrue paid sick leave at a rate of one (1) hour earned for every 30 hours worked
  • Family Medical Leave eligibility for qualified family and medical related reasons
  • Paid compassionate leave is available to all part-time employees to grieve the loss of an immediate family member, to make arrangements (if necessary), and to attend memorial services. Employees are eligible for paid compassionate leave for up to the hours scheduled in their average work week.
