Servers are responsible for providing attentive, efficient, and friendly service while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, cleanliness, and teamwork.
Essential Responsibilities
- Welcome every guest with a warm and friendly attitude.
- Guide guests through the menu, offering knowledgeable recommendations on sushi, kitchen entrees, beverages, sake, wine, beer, and cocktails.
- Accurately enter food and beverage orders into the POS system.
- Deliver food and beverages promptly while ensuring accuracy and presentation.
- Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience and respond quickly to requests or concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked section.
- Complete opening, running, and closing side work as assigned.
- Follow all Utah alcohol service laws, including verifying identification and serving alcohol responsibly.
- Process guest payments accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness of tables, service stations, and dining areas.
- Communicate effectively with hosts, bartenders, sushi chefs, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth service.
- Assist teammates whenever needed to provide an exceptional guest experience.
- Uphold Tsunami Sushi's standards of hospitality, food safety, and professionalism at all times.
- Previous serving experience preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude with a strong commitment to hospitality.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
Successful servers at Tsunami Sushi are expected to:
- Develop extensive knowledge of the food and beverage menu.
- Learn daily specials and seasonal offerings.
- Understand sushi ingredients and common dietary restrictions.
- Practice responsible alcohol service and ID verification.
- Maintain a polished, professional appearance according to company standards.
- Demonstrate punctuality, dependability, and accountability.
- Treat every guest and coworker with respect.
Servers are expected to:
- Deliver friendly, attentive, and efficient service every shift.
- Maintain high guest satisfaction scores and positive reviews.
- Accurately handle cash and credit transactions.
- Complete all assigned side work before leaving each shift.
- Follow all company policies, health department regulations, and Utah DABS requirements.
- Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting fellow employees and maintaining a solution-oriented attitude.
- Stand and walk for up to 8–10 hours.
- Frequently carry trays, dishes, and beverages weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Bend, stoop, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
- Work safely in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
