National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. - Providing a wide range of administrative services to senior officials at the highest levels of an agency/organization (e.g., assisting with the planning/coordination of executive level meetings and conferences, managing an active calendar of appointments, coordinating multiple projects, and serving as liaison to external constituents); and
- Preparing complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, agendas and reports (e.g. expense reports).
- Working on behalf of a senior official at the highest levels of an organization to provide guidance and oversight on a wide range of administrative services (e.g., projects, inquiries, on-the-spot priority decisions and general follow-up with other senior executives and staff); and
- Planning and coordinating executive level meetings and conferences (e.g., making all necessary arrangements, researching, and preparing meeting materials, organizing schedules of multiple participants, taking minutes, and following up on action items, managing an active calendar of appointments, coordinating multiple projects, and serving as liaison to external constituents); and
- Preparing complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, agendas, and reports (e.g., expense reports).
