Our client is an organization in the Baraboo area looking for an Accounting Assistant. Our client is looking for a dependable and detail-oriented individual who enjoys a mix of accounting, data entry, and customer service responsibilities. This position will support daily accounting operations while interacting with customers and team members in a busy, collaborative environment.
The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with daily accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Enter and maintain financial information within accounting and business systems.
- Support the preparation and processing of journal entries and other general accounting transactions.
- Assist with general ledger and chart of accounts-related activities.
- Review accounting information for accuracy and research discrepancies as needed.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
- Perform a high volume of data entry while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Assist with account reconciliations and other routine accounting activities.
- Support accounting needs across multiple areas of the organization.
- Respond to incoming phone calls and direct questions or requests to the appropriate team member.
- Provide professional and friendly service to customers, guests, and internal employees.
- Balance accounting responsibilities with incoming requests and changing daily priorities.
- Utilize accounting software and Microsoft Excel to maintain and organize financial information.
- Assist with special projects and additional accounting or administrative responsibilities as needed.
The Accounting Assistant will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred but not required.
- 1–2 years of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or related accounting experience preferred.
- Recent accounting graduates with relevant coursework, internships, or other practical experience will also be considered.
- Exposure to journal entries, general ledger accounting, or chart of accounts concepts is a plus.
- Comfortable learning and working within accounting, ERP, or other business management systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with PivotTables, lookup functions, or similar Excel tools is a plus.
- Strong data entry skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a professional and approachable communication style.
- Comfortable answering phones and assisting customers or other individuals as part of daily responsibilities.
- Ability to stay organized and productive while managing interruptions and multiple priorities.
- Dependable, flexible, and willing to assist wherever needed within a collaborative team environment.
- Eager to learn and develop broader accounting knowledge and responsibilities over time.
