Trueline's client, a growing multi-location tax, accounting, and advisory firm, is seeking a Financial Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join their team in New Jersey. This is a high-impact leadership role for an operator who can bring structure to a founder-led business, build scalable systems, and help lead the next stage of growth across multiple offices. The company serves a large and growing client base across New York and New Jersey and is looking for a true second-in-command who can strengthen execution without losing the personal service the business is known for.
What You'll Do as the Financial Chief Operating Officer (COO):
- Build and implement scalable operational systems that support growth across multiple locations
- Standardize workflows across client intake, tax preparation, tax planning, bookkeeping, and resolution services
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including staffing, scheduling, workload balancing, and service consistency
- Partner closely with the founder to turn business strategy into clear operational execution
- Create reporting structures, communication rhythms, and KPI dashboards across teams
- Improve cross-functional alignment across tax, accounting, client service, and other core business functions
- Lead hiring, onboarding, team development, and performance management processes
- Protect and strengthen a client-focused, values-driven culture during periods of growth and change
- Monitor operational performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive process improvements that increase efficiency and profitability
- Support expansion efforts by helping launch new locations with the right people, systems, and workflows in place
Must-Haves as the Financial Chief Operating Officer (COO):
- Proven operations leadership experience in tax, accounting, financial services, or another professional services environment
- Track record of helping scale a multi-location or high-growth business
- Strong background in building processes, infrastructure, and systems that improve consistency and performance
- Experience translating founder vision into execution across teams and locations
- Success managing people, budgets, and cross-functional operations
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to influence, coach, and lead effectively
- Comfort working in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment where priorities can evolve quickly
