Seeking a Heavy Civil / Highway Construction Estimator to join the team in Sabattus, Maine. What You'll Do as the Heavy Civil / Highway Construction Estimator:
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and competitive bid submissions for heavy civil and infrastructure projects
- Review plans, specifications, addenda, and contract documents to assess project requirements
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop accurate labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and trucking costs
- Evaluate project risks, constructability challenges, and pricing opportunities
- Participate in project pursuit decisions and bid strategy discussions with company leadership
- Solicit, analyze, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Prepare bid packages, clarifications, alternates, and proposal documentation
- Support project turnover, budgeting, and cost code development following award
- Assist with change order pricing and project financial reviews as needed
- Recommend process improvements and help strengthen estimating best practices across the organization
- Serve as a collaborative resource for operations, project management, and executive leadership
Must-Haves as the Heavy Civil / Highway Construction Estimator:
- 5 years of estimating experience within heavy civil, highway, site development, or infrastructure construction
- Strong experience estimating excavation, grading, utilities, drainage, paving, or roadway projects
- Ability to independently manage complex estimates from bid review through submission
- Thorough understanding of construction means, methods, and production rates
- Experience using estimating software and digital takeoff platforms
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Leadership mindset with interest in contributing beyond traditional estimating responsibilities
Nice-to-Haves as the Heavy Civil / Highway Construction Estimator:
