This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys building complex systems, guiding technical teams, and driving projects from assembly through final customer acceptance.
What You'll Do as the Automation Manufacturing Project Leader II:
- Lead assembly, debugging, and commissioning of custom automation systems
- Drive project timelines through daily and weekly progress tracking
- Ensure completion of key validation processes including pre-FAT, machine verification, and FAT/SAT execution
- Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams to align schedules and implement engineering changes
- Review and support technical work across mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines
- Troubleshoot system issues and drive resolution across multiple technical areas
- Lead on-site installations and customer acceptance testing, including travel as needed
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level mechanical technicians
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment aligned with quality standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean and 5S
Must-Haves as the Automation Manufacturing Project Leader II:
- Associate's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3-5 years in automation, manufacturing, or machine build environments
- Experience leading builds, projects, or technical teams
- Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting experience
- Familiarity with machining tools such as mills, lathes, and grinders
- Ability to interpret engineering documentation and BOMs
- Comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced production environment
Nice-to-Haves as the Automation Manufacturing Project Leader II:
- Exposure to electrical systems or controls integration
- Experience supporting FAT/SAT or customer-facing installations
- Background in custom automation or special machine building
- Knowledge of quality validation processes such as Gage R&R or CpK studies
- Experience in Lean manufacturing environments
