Trueline's client, a fourth-generation commercial general contractor with more than 75 years of experience, is seeking a Estimator/Project Coordinator to join their onsite team in Shreveport, Louisiana. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career construction professional or recent graduate to gain broad exposure to estimating, project planning, subcontractor coordination, and field operations while building a long-term career with a stable, growing contractor.
What You'll Do as the Estimator/Project Coordinator:
Primary Responsibilities
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimating from plans and specifications.
• Conduct pre-bid site visits and existing condition assessments.
• Develop project scopes of work.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Coordinate subcontractor walkthroughs and bid meetings.
• Prepare accurate and competitive project proposals.
• Assist in project budgeting and value engineering efforts.
• Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Prepare and organize project plans and preconstruction documentation.
• Develop and maintain project records and documentation systems.
• Submittal preparation and product sample coordination.
• Coordinate with operations and project management teams during project turnover.
• Support field personnel with project information and documentation.
• Assist with project planning and scheduling activities.
• Participate in internal project review meetings.
• Maintain organized project files and communication records.
Secondary Responsibilities
• Assist project management staff with subcontract processing.
• Support RFI preparation and tracking.
• Support permit applications and permit coordination.
• Assist with change management and change order pricing.
• Provide administrative support related to project startup activities.
Required Qualifications
• Desired 2 years of construction estimating, preconstruction, or related experience.
• Degree in Construction Management or similar focus.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience performing construction quantity takeoffs.
• Understanding of commercial construction processes and methods.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience using PDF markup software such as Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Detail-oriented and highly accurate.
• Coachable with a willingness to learn and grow.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with commercial interiors, tenant improvements, renovations, or specialty finishes.
• Experience working for a general contractor or specialty contractor.
• Familiarity with construction estimating software and digital takeoff platforms.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and vendor procurement activities.
• Knowledge of commercial bidding processes and contract documentation.
Compensation & Benefits
• Annual Performance Bonus (4% of base salary)
