Position Summary
This role is responsible for the design and development of custom Integrated Microwave Assemblies (IMAs) and RF solutions. The engineer leads project teams in a fast‑paced environment to deliver new products to customers on schedule, meeting or exceeding all requirements, and ensuring profitable transition into production.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply engineering and electronics principles using RF synthesis and simulation software to design, simulate, and prototype new RF/microwave modules and subsystems for demanding military and aerospace applications
- Perform detailed compliance analysis for electrical, mechanical, environmental, and regulatory requirements (compliance matrix) for all new products being quoted
- Estimate total costs, including material, labor, test, and development expenses, as well as lead times for new product quotations
- Lead design and development projects to completion following the company’s established product development process
- Optimize new products for performance, manufacturing lead time, and cost
- Provide hands‑on guidance to assemblers and engineering technicians during prototype build and optimization phases
- Interface with manufacturing engineering to develop any new processes required to support new products
- Coordinate with the purchasing department to ensure timely procurement of prototype materials
- Provide regular project status updates
- Lead or participate in required project meetings: kick‑offs, peer design reviews, pre‑shipment reviews, etc.
- Provide design engineering support during the transition of new products to production
- Support existing production products that require engineering assistance for obsolete components, quality or reliability issues, or further optimization
- Educate, train, mentor, and coach less experienced design engineers and technicians
- Stay current with technology and industry trends; propose new product concepts that could provide a competitive advantage
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Demonstrated experience designing integrated microwave assemblies (IMAs) and subsystems for demanding military and aerospace applications
- Design proficiency in analog, RF, and microwave circuit design, as well as development of RF system architectures
- Experience in the design of transmit/receive modules with strong proficiency using LNAs, SSPAs, couplers, attenuators, circulators, limiters, and filters in RF signal chains
- Demonstrated expertise optimizing RF signal chains for noise figure and SWaP‑C (Size, Weight, Power, and Cost)
- Experience in the design of up‑converters and down‑converters using PLL structures, mixers, and multipliers
- Experience in the design of low‑noise DC supply circuits to power sensitive RF components, including power‑up and power‑down sequencing for SSPA modules
- Demonstrated expertise in the design of printed circuit assemblies and advanced microwave structures
- Excellent working knowledge of RF/microwave synthesis and simulation software
- Strong project management skills
- Strong hands‑on bench testing skills (desirable)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a fast‑paced engineering/production environment
- Knowledge and understanding of radio architecture, avionic and military communication systems, and radar architecture
- Must be able to work with export‑controlled technical data (ITAR) without a license
Education, Experience, & Training
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering (BSEE, MSEE, or PhD)
- Desirable: 10 years of RF/microwave industry experience, including at least five years specifically in IMA or RF solutions design
Salary : $120,000 - $130,000
