What You'll Do:
- Prepare complex federal and state income tax returns with minimal errors.
- Proficiently review moderately complex federal and state income tax returns.
- Prepare federal and state quarterly tax estimates.
- Prepare year-end journal entries.
- Conduct advanced tax research and interpret complex tax guidance to provide recommendations.
- Train staff on complex tax issues and provide assistance on assigned returns.
- Draft and edit tax memos, letters, notice responses, and other professional communication.
- Lead special projects and participate in forecasting, tax planning, and departmental initiatives.
- Assist tax accountants by answering questions and providing direction on tax return preparation.
- Apply workpaper standards and ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support departmental process improvements and identify opportunities to enhance workflow efficiency.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times.
What We're Looking For:
Required Education, Experience and/or Abilities
- A bachelor's degree or higher in accounting and four (4) or more years of tax experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Proficiency in accounting and tax law knowledge.
- Ability to prepare all types of tax returns, including complex returns. Ability to review moderately complex tax returns.
- Ability to train on moderately complex tax returns.
- Ability to make independent decisions regarding work projects and tax issues; possesses leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Effective time management skills to meet all deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain strong working relationships. Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
Computer Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to use professional tax software.
- Ability to perform accurate data entry.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- English language fluency, verbal and written.
- Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.
