ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide oversight for the outpatient and residential programs in Fairbanks to ensure excellence in service
    delivery
  • Develop, update, and implement clinical procedures in accordance with True North Recovery, Inc policy and
    procedures, the State of Alaska Behavioral Health, and Joint Commission
  • Monitor compliance to legal guidelines, internal policies, and quality standards
  • Provide individual and group supervision of the clinical staff (counselors and case managers)
  • Assist clinical staff with supervision for urgent clinical situations and provides crisis management
  • Provide individual and group counseling as needed
  • Hire employees to ensure the department is staffed with qualified personnel
  • Assess employee performance and, if necessary, discipline employees in a constructive manner
  • Ensure clinical documents are up to date, quality assurance with documentation, and ensure consistency
    with standards
  • Travel to different locations to ensure quality care with services being provided
  • Develop and maintain a healthy culture that is reflective of True North Recovery’s shared values and belief
    systems
  • Represent True North Recovery, Inc at meetings with community partners
  • Maintain a collaborative and cooperative work environment
  • Coordinates audits for counseling staff; reviews all client records; facilitates weekly clinical meetings
  • Serves as an on-call manager
  • Assume responsibility for budgeting and resourcing
  • Assigning cases; creating and managing staff schedules



QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field preferred, with the ability to
    complete State approved continued education units as a Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP) within 6
    months upon hire.
  • Supervisor credential with respective credentialing / licensure board preferred. 
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of modern clinical psychology and addiction treatment.
  • Individual, group and family therapy techniques.
  • In depth understanding of mental health disorders as defined in DSM-V codes.
  • In depth understanding of substance abuse level of care as defined by ASAM.
  • In depth understanding of clinical supervision principles and practice, including 12 hours of supervision training.
  • Experience facilitating treatment team and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Experience providing individual and / or group supervision to clinical staff in substance abuse and / or
    mental health field in the following areas: Delivering direct individual, group, and family services, conducting assessments utilizing the DSM-V and / or ASAM criteria, Creating individualized treatment plans addressing mental health and / or substance use issues.

  • Seek supervision and consultation as needed.
  • Manage stress and maintain personal health effectively, and role model self-care to staff.
  • Compile and verify data and prepare reports.
  • Maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and be able to assist staff in the implementation of those accordingly.
  • Analyze situations accurately and assist staff in implementing effective courses of action.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Comply with laws, regulations, policies, and ethical codes, and role model to staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role is primarily performed in an office building with standard office environment and controlled temperatures.  When working outdoors or at a job site the employee may be exposed to construction equipment or other moving objects/equipment; reference job site specifics.  The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk/hear, see, read, and personally interact with others.
