Job Summary

The Rooms Inspector is responsible for supervising all facets of the Housekeeping Department ensuring high levels of guest service and satisfaction. This includes rooms, laundry, public areas, work areas and department storage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide quality services and meets guests needs
  • Maintain room quality based on hotel and brand standards
  • Monitor and maintain level of cleanliness in rooms, storage areas, laundry, restrooms and public areas
  • Check all vacant and clean rooms, public space, storage areas and housekeeping carts daily
  • Check on stayovers
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people

Additional Duties

  • Assist in preparation of daily assignment sheets for housekeeping associates
  • Compile and report accurate status of guestrooms to front office
  • Maintain standard procedures for security of on-loan equipment
  • Assist hotel management with inventory and ordering
  • Assist in overseeing the deep cleaning program
  • Maintain department key control
  • Assist other coworkers/departments when necessary
  • Actively seeks out other tasks when current work is complete
  • Complete projects as determined by the Housekeeping Supervisor/Operations Manager/General Manager
  • Participate in MOD rotation
  • Participate in ongoing education and training
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education or Experience- High school diploma or GED equivalent; or one to three months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills- Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak professionally and effectively before associates.
  • Mathematical Skills- Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units or measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratio, rate and percent. Possesses sharp ability for attention to detail (able to quickly identify variances in standards), working efficiently and flexibly. Ability to multi-task and be highly organized.
  • Reasoning Ability- Must have developed reasoning skills to be able to: apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems effectively in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements

  • Non-slip shoes are recommended
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background check
  • Requires walking and standing to a significant degree, reaching, climbing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, handling, talking, hearing, smelling and seeing.
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying or transporting of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions. Potential exposure to paint, solvents, cleaning chemicals and/or fumes
